Vacation For Two

Jacob and I went to visit friends in Denver this week. We also got stranded for an extra day because it started snowing on one side of Denver and we couldn't leave. We probably could have made it, but I have no four wheel drive (because it BROKE), Jacob was screaming to get out of his seat because we were only going five miles an hour and he thought we were stopped, and every single lane was packed with cars trying to get out of town with no end in sight. So I turned around and went back to the snowless part of town and felt stupid because I didn't feel confident to drive home with my baby. My accident two years ago doesn't help me feel confident but mostly it was because my car is broken and it was getting dark. Also, I forgot Jacob's coat at home.

However, we did get to go to the Aquarium with my brother and his wife. He likes to watch fish. And when the parrots in the South American exhibit squawk, Jacob thinks they are talking to him and he talks back. The stingray pool freaked him out a little bit, I don't think he understood what we were doing with our hands in the water and why he kept getting splashed. We got to feed them, which is weird because you stick a little frozen fish in your knuckle and put your hand underwater and wait for a stingray to come up and suck your fist into it's mouth. After that, we used a lot of sanitizer.

But now we are home, after a cautious trip down the highway. Jacob slept the whole way home, and even took more naps today. I think he's making up for the past two weeks. I am completely on board with this. Even though I love his delirious laughing when I tickle his neck and say his name.

PS. Jacob LOVED the mall. Someday, when I have money, I plan on going back.

And Then I Bought A Plane Ticket

So. I bought a ticket to Ohio. For June. Two Weeks. AWESOME.

Oh, you're leaving your job and moving to Denver before that?

WHO CARES!

I love me some Ohio. In my defense, I was going to go to Ohio in June anyways for a friend's wedding that I feel I simply have to witness. And why not make it two weeks? That way I can see everyone and it's not a rushed thing.

And, you know what. If Denver doesn't work out before that, I may just move myself there in June.

Denver is still up in the air. I haven't heard from my roommates in a while, and they haven't heard from the Dr. telling them if the brother has cancer again. Back in February, when I talked to Liz, it all seemed like it was falling into place. I had broken up with BB, and moving to Denver was finally working out for me. And now...it's not.

And I don't mind postponing again. But what if I'm postponing something that just isn't going to happen EVER. When I could be making plans for something else. I'm sort of lost, to be quite honest. I don't know what I am supposed to be doing. In my eyes, or in God's eyes. And sometimes I feel like I dug myself in to a black hole with my faith and I need to get back up there to fix it all, but how?

I sent a friend who used to live in Denver an email today asking if his old roommate still needed a roommate. Because I reached a straw today at work, and I think it's the final one.

Things I Did Not Say This Morning

"OMG, real bloggers left me comments!"

No, I did not say that.

I also did not forget my Christmas present from K, even though it was right next to me all night.

Oh, no. I would never forget something that I've wanted for months!

"I almost got stuck in a ditch!"

It was not my fault.

psst. All of this is true.

Despite being stood up for the second time this weekend, I had a great time in Denver on Monday. I discovered that I am a size 4, not a size 6, according to Gap. But later I was told that I can't wear Gap jeans, so perhaps it doesn't matter. I also have love handles on my thighs that will never go away, no matter what size I'm wearing. I also have them on my hips and back. They too will never go away. Unless I try the "anorexic look" and I don't know how good I'd look with that. I'll keep my squishy parts, thank you very much.

I know I've been bitching about the snow here, but I have to retract all that. I'm glad that we don't have as much snow as Denver does. While the main streets are clear of snow, the neighborhoods are a mess. There are huge piles of snow from the plows lining the streets. Yards have two and a half feet of snow covering them. The roads have "ice pot holes" from where the snow have been compacted into ridges that no plow can sweep off. We got off easy with our foot of snow and a few warm days to melt the ice.

But I am so excited to move to Denver next month! Even if the storms are going to last until April, like some are saying! Remember Laura Ingalls Wilder and "The Long Winter"? It's gonna be just like that. Dear Lord, let "the people" be wrong.

The move to Denver in February is looking more and more logical. I have a job option for an insurance company due to knowing people who already work there and a possible roommate who has a dog so that I won't need to feel guilty about taking Hunter away from Emma. He'd rather wrestle all day and Emma doesn't, and his voice is kind of hoarse from barking at her all day in protest anyways. He's obnoxious like that. It comes in handy though, because JBelle has discovered he will bark at her and she has spent many an evening on top of the stool in the kitchen saying "Hey Huntur, come here and bourk at me! (to me) Hey, say Huntur!"
